CC Young Senior Living to Host Internationally Recognized Active Aging Expert

Colin Milner on June 7

Boomer generation flooding the market, living longer, and disrupting the senior living industry

DALLAS (May XX, 2024) – Living better longer is the great “disruptor” today challenging and shifting the paradigm on aging. By 2034, Baby Boomers between ages 60 to 84 entering the senior living market will number 61 million, disrupting the marketplace in size and increasing the demand on tools for healthy aging. To explore the advancements and possibilities in living longer, healthier lives, CC Young Senior Living will host International Council on Active Aging Founder and Chief Executive Officer Colin Milner in an informative presentation about whole-person wellness and active aging on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 3:30 p.m. at The Point Auditorium on the CC Young Campus.

“The Baby Boomer generation presents both a challenge and an opportunity for the senior living market,” says CC Young Senior Living President and Chief Executive Officer Russell Crews. “Not only are they flooding the marketplace, but this group is also drawn to autonomous living and aging actively. This is causing the industry to change its model to accommodate and embrace wellness to enrich the quality of life and foster vibrant communities. At CC Young, we want people to live better longer and we have taken a comprehensive approach to wellness, cultivating a wellness-centric environment for our current and future residents and staff.”

Every year, 4.1 million Americans turn 65 according to estimates from the Retirement Income Institute at the Alliance for Lifetime Income. Incorporating wellness programs can help this population stay healthy longer to alleviate the stress on healthcare institutions, as well as lower the financial burden on families.

“Longer health spans, longer work lives and active lifestyles of older adults are the future. The guiding force directing this is wellness, which encompasses all areas of a person’s life as an integrated whole,” says International Council on Active Aging Chief Executive Officer Colin Milner. “The concept of healthy aging is transforming senior living and our understanding of growing older by emphasizing vitality, resilience, and continued growth for a purpose-filled life.”

The Point at CC Young is uniquely positioned to serve residents and non-residents. Through Point Membership, non-residents can participate in everything CC Young residents experience including a comprehensive wellness schedule featuring fitness classes, Parkinson’s-specific programs, lifelong learning opportunities through UNT OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning), arts, and technology education, and much more. Point Members are also eligible to experience aquatics programs in The Vista. The inclusionary approach fosters intergenerational connections through all activities including the self-directed “Game Zone” to build a richer, more diverse community where older adults are not isolated but are active and thriving participants.
